The Cub Scouts went on two field trips back in April. I was the leader in charge of the tour plan, so I was able to go. We had fun. The first field trip was to Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum. We went there last year with my sister-in-law. The kids seemed to have a good time. Each leader took 4 boys through the museum. It was fun to watch the kids because they had a little handout to fill out. Some boys didn't care and just wanted to run through. Others took time to watch/look at things. I'm glad I got to go.
The other field trip was to Lowe's to make a terrarium. We had quite a few leaders go so we had them helping boys. We had a few boys that wouldn't accept help, but we ended up tearing apart their terrarium and redoing them. I got to help Brax and a few other boys. We were done pretty fast. We got home in good time, ready for Brax's soccer game.

Field Trips
It is ending the school year and field trips are going on. I have been able to go on the last two with Brax and his class. We were able to go to Cotton Days in Washington. It was interesting. They got to plant a seed, watch how cotton blankets were made, go through a museum, see candles and soap made, look at hand carts and wagons, learn about the household goods of the time, see a black powder rifle shot, look at old tractors and engines, and see many other things. They also had an old fashion photo taken of the class. We then went to a park, ate lunch, and walked back to the school. I forgot my camera though so no pics.
The latest field trip was to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. Last year I swam with my broken finger and Brax ditched me. This year I decided not to swim because of my lip, I didn't want any kid to smack me in the face. I walked around helping the lifeguards watch kids and taking pictures. It was a lot of fun. They have a slide, buckets, and many other fun things for the kids to do. I went shopping after and it was fun to be with Brax.

Busy Weekends
We have been really busy every weekend and it doesn't look like it's slowing down. Brax had soccer two of the last three weekends. May 5th was his last soccer game. He did a great job. He scored 3 goals this year which is great considering he was a defensive player (goalie) most of the time. He is getting so much better.
Two of the last three weekends our nephew, Keldon, was playing baseball in Santa Clara at Gubler Fields so we went and watched him. We got some nice sunburns even with sunscreen. They have a splash pad there so Brax would run around with the rest of the cousins while Branden and I watched. It's fun watching the nieces/nephews get older. We try to watch them when they come down.
May 5th we went to Brax's last soccer game in the morning and as soon as it was over we headed to Venice. Our renters moved out and my sister and her family were trying to move in slowly since the farm is so crazy right now. We worked for about 7.5 hours and then headed back home that night. We got home pretty late and were exhausted. Thanks to some help from Cara and Kincade we got most of our stuff done that we needed to.

Softball to the face
It seems like most years that I play softball, I end up with an injury. I've had a broken hand, broken finger, concussion, and multiple scars from sliding or being hit with the ball. The hardest injury to date is the latest one. A little over a week ago I took a softball to the left side of my face. The ball took a mean hop and got me. It hurt a lot worse than it looked. I ate from a straw the following day. Luckily, mouths heal quickly. It ripped up the inside of my lower lip pretty bad and cut up my top lip a little. My teeth still hurt, but none were knocked loose or anything. I'm hoping they don't die. I talked to my old dentist though and he said it can take 2-3 weeks for them to feel better after getting hit in the mouth. We'll see how it goes.
These pictures were taken 2 days later when my upper lip was infected. It looked a lot better than the day before, I just didn't really think to take pictures.
Baseball
Baseball is in full swing and already half way over. Brax is playing on the Cubs machine pitch team. He is getting a lot better at hitting, but we need to work a little more with him on catching. He can catch, but sometimes gets a little excited and tries to get someone out before getting the ball. He has also been playing catch quite a bit this year. He is fun to watch though and improving every week. He only has 5 games left. I am helping to coach his team. It is fun to be there for him and help teach him what to do. I do love watching baseball and hope that he continues to play, but it is his choice. Thanks to a wonderful friend, we were able to get some pictures taken at one of the games and since she is a photographer they look better than if I'd taken them.
